My work is an abstract style that is a deliberate effort to step back from realistic representations while at the same time not stepping away from reality itself.

I like to think that my best paintings are captured in spontaneous moments when I can free myself of restraints imposed by over-thinking and self-judgment. It's in constructing, then deconstructing what I see, that I try to fill the spaces between emotion, reality, and memory with color and texture. I work primarily in acrylic on canvas and when I can on found wood panels, vintage rice paper  and Arches Watercolor paper.

My goal is to inspire viewers to look more closely at the world around them and rediscover life between the lines. Once completed, each picture exists in its own reality; assuming its own distinctive personality and afterlife.

My work is not about turning away from meaning. It is a willful exaggeration of realistic components in which I discover new emotional paradigms to emphasize what is meaningful to me.
